Holistic Services

Chiropractic care is a form of holistic and complementary alternative medicine (CAM) that is based upon the belief and understanding that general health and wellness depends in large part upon the proper function of the nervous system. As chiropractic physicians, we believe in removing interference from the nervous system through manipulation of the spine, muscles, joints and tissue by hand. Chiropractic care subsequently allows each bodily system to properly communicate with the brain and in many cases allows the body to heal itself.

“Chiropractic” comes from the Greek word “Chiropraktikos”, meaning “effective treatment by hand”. Chiropractic philosophy is rooted in the belief that the cause of many diseases begins with the body’s inability to adapt to substances, stressors and even emotional forces at play in each individual’s environment.

Chiropractors are often seen as the pioneers in holistic health care in the United States and look to address disease without the use of traditional pharmaceuticals, prescription drugs or other types of chemicals and our network of physicians are no different. The BioVeda network of chiropractic physicians utilize a combination of musculoskeletal adjustments, homeopathic remedies, diet, nutrition based approaches, herbal remedies and Neurological Stress Reduction Therapy to provide comprehensive care plans for patients suffering from numerous types of conditions and disease. The BioVeda approach is about identifying the underlying cause of the disease, symptom or condition affecting the individual and providing the appropriate care to alleviate or eliminate the cause of the patients suffering. This is a dramatic departure from traditional medicine and western medical models that tend to prescribe drugs to mask or alleviate symptoms rather than dealing with what’s truly causing the symptoms.

BioVeda Wellness Centers and our chiropractic doctors treat the patient with the disease or condition and not the disease that has the patient. Our overall approach to wellness incorporates the best of modern technology with eastern medical techniques that date back thousands of years.

Our chiropractic physicians are qualified to address numerous conditions. All of our chiropractors use a standard procedure of examination to arrive at a proper course of treatment. Our doctors utilize patient consultation, detailed medical history, physical examination, laboratory analysis and x-rays just as any traditional medical doctor would. Our chiropractic physicians take the examination a step further by paying additional attention to the spine.

What makes chiropractic care unique is the examination of the spine to evaluate body function. The spinal column which starts at the base of the skull and extends through the center of the hips is comprised of a series of movable bones often referred to as vertebrae and disks. The spinal column also includes the spinal cord and thirty-one pairs of spinal nerves that extend from the spine to the brain. The nerves leave the spine and form a complicated path of sensory receptors that extend throughout the entire body transferring information on everything that happens in an individual’s environment back to the brain for interpretation. The brain then formulates a response, and sends messages back to the muscles, tendons, ligaments, joints, organs, and every tissue and cell to orchestrate and maintain normal homeostatic control, i.e. optimal health. These nerves influence every living tissue and cell in the body which is what makes Chiropractic care so beneficial.

Any interference to these nerves which can be caused by numerous forms of physical trauma and environmental stressors can cause malfunctions in the human body. Chiropractic teaches that reducing or eliminating the interference caused by these traumas or stressors can allow the body to operate more efficiently while also relieving any musculoskeletal pain. This methodology combined with an emphasis on nutrition, exercise and diet and homeopathic remedies promote healthy lifestyle and both physical and mental health. Chiropractic care is viewed as a primary piece of complementary alternative medicine.
